EUROPE: Champions League – League phase

Unbelievable underperformances were the cases of some top clubs in this week’s UEFA European Champions league, while some other teams had convincing triumphs.

Real Madrid vs AC Milan: The game between defending Champions and Super Cup winners, Real Madrid and Italian club side AC Milan ended in disgrace for the Carlo Ancelotti side. Malick Thiaw opened the scoreline in the 12th minute with a well tailored and strong header to keep AC Milan ahead, but a penalty scored by Vinicious Jr in the 23rd minute leveled the scoreline. The Galacticos conceded another in the 39th minute after Alvaro Morata tapped the ball in with his left for an easy finish. To make things absolutely ugly for Real Madrid, the third came in for the Rossoneri in the 73rd minute after Rafeal Leao brought an assist that saw Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders scored with his left foot.

Liverpool vs Bayer Leverkusen: Liverpool truly will never walk alone this week as they humiliated Bayer Leverkusen during the week in the UEFA Champions League. The game was a little bit barren with no goals after the first 45 minutes of the game, but in the second half goals were banged by the Reds who were operating on a high frequency. The hat-trick from Luis Diaz, and one goal from Dutchman Cody Gakpo dismantled Xabi Alonso’s men, and gave the Reds a four nil victory over the Die Werkself.

Sporting CP – Manchester City: Pep Guardiola and his men suffered another defeat in the UEFA Champions League during the week after being demolished by Sporting CP. This loss will make it the 3rd straight defeat for the Citizens after losing 2-1 in the Carabao Cup to Totthenham Hotspur, and 2-1 in the English Premier League to Bournemouth.
Extraordinary performance from Man of the Match Viktor Gyokeres was to electrifying and energetic for City to comprehend. Gyokeres scored a hat-trick, Maximillano got one, while Phil Foden got the only goal for the Citizens.
