Weekly Sports Round Up

Israel vs France: It was a total disaster for Israel as they were trashed on Thursday night by France in the UEFA Nations League. The game which went down at the Bozsik Arena, Hungary had five goals in total with one for Israel and four for Les Bleus. Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga opened the score line in the 7th minute courtesy an assist from Randal Kolo-Muani. Israel looked as though they would keep up the fight when Omri Gandelman equalized in the 24th minute, but Christopher Nkunku’s super display together with Camavinga saw the Chelsea forward doubled the lead to help France get the second time lead of the match. Two more goals came for France in the late period of the game. In the 87th minute, Matteo Guendouzi made it 1-3 and the last goal came from PSG Man Bradley Barcola to seal the well deserved victory for Les Bleus.

This effort now places France in the second position of group A in the UEFA Nations League 2024.

Nigeria Vs Libya: The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday night defeated the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in a dramatic African Nations League Qualifier Match that was played in the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria. The Libyans who were on a mission to secure at least a draw in the away match, deployed every delay tactic to have them accomplish their mission. At several intervals, the Super Eagles missed chances that would have put them ahead of the game considering the fact that they were in full control from the defense line to the attack. The scoreline changed after Fisayo Dele-Bashiru got the only goal to help Nigeria win the game and climb to top of their group with 7 points. Benin Republic who trashed Rwanda 3 goals to nothing in another Nations League Qualifying match are now in second d position with six points.

Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Germany: The Germans struggled to earn all the 3 points on Friday night as they featured in the UEFA Nations League game against Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The initial absence of Jamal Musiala and Arsenal’s hitman Kai Havertz saw the Germans have a slow and difficult start with strong opposition from the Bosnians. The brace from current Stuttgart man Deniz Undav was just enough to earn all the important 3 points for the Die Mannschaft.

It was just within the space of 6 minutes (30 & 36 minute), Undav got the two goals and in the second half none came from the Germans. The Bonians were able to pull one through as Eden Dzeko scored the only goal in the second half. Dzeko’s 70th minute goal was not enough to either get a draw or see them win the game. The win now has Germany bagging 7 points after 3 played matches.
