Atletico Trumps Barca, as Real Madrid Routs Sevilla to Heighten Title Chase

The Spanish La liga over the weekend went riveting as Barca were overpowered at home on Saturday 21st 2024 by Atletico de Madrid. The Catalans who started strong and fiercer from the moment of kickoff, dominated all through to half time. The mounted pressure resulted to a 76℅ and 24% difference in favour of the home team (Barca), in the first 10 minutes of play, 71% to 29% in the 20 minute still in favour of Barca, and the 30minute right footed goal from Pedro Gonzalez Lopez (Pedri).

Few minutes into the second half (52nd), Diego Simeone, the head coach for Atletico, just had a player (Axel Witsel) substituted into the squad to get things balanced, and streamline Atletico’s chances of having a bounce back and of cause the victory.
At some point in the game, Atletico Madrid convincingly gathered momentum and the effort to do more saw them pulled one through in the 60th minute, as Rodrigo de Paul fired a right-footed shot from outside the box to level the score line.

To push harder, Simeone made a double change in the 62nd minute that saw Conor Gallagher and Gluliano Simeone make way for Jorge Ressureccion Merodio (Simply called Koke), and Nahuel Molina.

In the 73rd minute, another double change occurred. Marcos Llorente came off for Alexander Soerloth, and Frenchman Antoine Griezmann also came off for Robin Normand.

On the other hand, Barca too had a double player change in the 64th minute (Ferran Torres for Pablo Martin Paez Gavira (Gavi for short), and Dani Olmo for Fermin Lopez).

Just as when spectators thought of ending their further expectations of any goal, the dramatic surfaced. Alexander Soerloth at injury time (90+6), changed the story, and snatched all the 3 points away from Barcelona football club, sparking a thunderous celebration for teammates and supporters.

What a game! What a story! What a victory!

Real Madrid Vs Sevilla
The Los Blancos were unstoppable on Sunday evening (22nd December 2024), as they demolished Sevilla 4 goals to 2 in the
Second round of the Spanish Laliga at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Rodrigo Moreno Machado provided the first assist of the game that located Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, who scored in the 10th minute through a right footed shot from outside the box, beating the goalkeeper, and putting Real Madrid up by 1-0.

10 minutes later, Eduardo Camavinga assisted Federico Santiago Valverde Dipetta, who with a similar shot as the first goal was scored, fired again to make it 2-0.

Real Madrid who were in full charge of the game, had 2 more goal to make it 4 goal. Rodrigos’ came in the 34th minutes, while Moroccan international, Brahmin Diaz scored in the 53rd minute also.

Sevilla only managed to get two goals; Isaac Romeo scored in the 35th minute, and Lukebakio Dodi also in the 85th minute.

La liga Table Standings

The La liga table as at 23rd December (3:30 am), now has Atletico after 18 games sits at the top with 41 points, Real Madrid after 18 games sits second with 40 points, Barcelona after 19 games, sits 3rd with 38 points, Atletico Bilbao after 19 games, sits 4th with 36 points, and Villarreal sits at fifth position after 18 games with 30 points.

All actions for the Laliga title race will resume fully on Friday 3rd January 2025, after the yultide celebrations.
