Grit Earned Brighton a Historic Victory as Spurs Suffers Defeat


Dramatic it was on Sunday evening as Spurs gave away a two-goal lead to home team Brighton. The Spurs of London displayed top-notch performances with good control of the game in the first half of the game. After an assist from former Bournemouth front-man Dominic Solanke that saw Brennan Johnson scoring the opener in the 23rd minute, the double lead for Tottenham was netted by James Maddison in the 37th minute also. The two goals brought a sense of control, confidence, elation, and happiness to the entire Spurs team. With this feeling, it was obvious that Postecoglou’s men seemed to be having a cruising game not until the shocker emerged.

Hurzeler at halftime needed to do something very quick to redeem his team so he made the second substitution of the game. Pervis Estupinan, a defender was introduced into the game to balance the defense line as there was a bit of defense concern for Tottenham. In the 48th minute, Yankuba Minteh made the most of a slip-up and pulled one goal for his side. Ten minutes later, the leveler came through an assist from Kaoru Mitoma seeing Georginio Rutter scoring the second. The winning goal was scored by former Manchester United player Danny Welbeck. His 66th-minute nod changed the whole story of the encounter. The scoreline changed from two nill to 3-2.

He also lamented that His side lacked intensity and that even as much as he wished they bagged all three points, it would only sometimes be like that as the nature of the game of football is not tied to winning games forever.
However, Brighton’s coach Fabian Hurzeler disclosed the magic message that stirred up the positive impact in the home win against Spurs. And that was what the team stuck to to earn them the well-deserving victory.
