Personal development is a never-ending process for developing oneself. It is
a way for people to assess their inherent skills, consider their aims in life and set lifelong goals in order to realise and maximise their potential.
Personal development is not just a way of solving problems in your life, it is a way of growing. It is your way to a better life, to become an improved and complete version of yourself.

Tips for achieving personal development
- Accepting responsibilities – You need to start shouldering responsibility for every action you take and it’s outcome. Once you do this you are now ready to begin to setting clear specific goals in every area of your life.
- Stop the blame game – The past is gone and there’s nothing you can do about it. Stop blaming the past or others. You are in the now and should make things work towards a better future. Stop bothering about your past or a sad event because there’s nothing you can do to change it. Focus on your present and future.
- Set realistic short term Goals – The goals you set for yourself must be SMART. SMART here means it must be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time bound. You don’t set a short term goal of becoming a President and you don’t belong to any political party. Follow the SMART process when setting your goals.
- Get out of your comfort zone – The risk takers are the ones that run the world now. You can’t get anywhere by staying in your comfort zone. You need to be ready to lose, learn new things and ultimately succeed. Get out of your comfort zone, put yourself out there, take risks and aim to do something different, such as learning a new skill or hobby.
- Get a mentor – A mentor is needed to save yourself from rat race. If you need help identifying ways to build your self-development skills, talk to a mentor. This mentor could be a founder, manager, professor, or omeone you admire.
- Be happy – It sounds like the simplest advice one could ever give, but it’s so true. Be happy! Life is far too short to live in misery. See the positives and don’t dwell on the negatives
