The Turbulent Journey of Everton
The Toffees had been going around what looked like stagnation, or maybe a rollercoaster movement. Tracing back to January 23rd, 2023, Everton had to terminate Frank Lampard’s services, making way for a fresh manager to get the football club back into business, and help them become more compatible. With this desire, Northamptonshire-born coach, Sean Dyche was appointed in February 2024, to handle things and get the job done, but his under-performance as the head coach only saw him last till early January 2025.
No doubt, Dyche had up to a decade’s reputation at Burnley, before moving to Goodison Park, but his technicality and expertise did not amount to anything progressive. To make things worse, inconsistencies began to encroach, and Everton continued to battle with moving up from the relegation zone of the 2024/2025 English Premier League Season.
The Return of David Moyes
As of 2002 at age 39, Moyes had become the youngest Premier League Manager, and at that time Everton’s manager after succeeding Walter Smith. He had track records with the Toffees, like achieving 4th position and a UEFA Champions League ticket in the 2004/2005 EPL season, and the FA Cup final 2-1 defeat against Chelsea in 2009.
His managerial expertise was satisfactory with the club not until he was called upon, and signed a contract at Manchester United to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson, who was leaving for retirement purposes.
Moyes who for 11 years coached Everton, couldn’t meet up to expectation at Old Trafford; this made him lose his position with the Red Devils.
As a better option, Everton decided to bring Moyes back to the Northwest England club, to see if he could at least maximize potential and bring them back to track again. This appointment brought a first sigh of relief impression as he delivered in his first game with the Spurs.
A New Horizon
It was an exhilarating performance on Sunday the 19th of January 2025, at Liverpool, England, as Everton football club hammered Tottenham Hotspur 3-2, a convincing win after much doubt about the future of the home team. So many epileptic performances have been the story of Everton since the beginning of the current 2024/2025 EPL season but with the current reshuffling and performance, the club is looking like things are shaping up for them.
Everton, was on top of the game as smiling moments filled the air, to bring back hope for every of their supporters. Dominic Calvert-Lewis made sure the first goal of the game went in in the 13th minute of play, while 17 minutes later, IIiman Ndiaye made it 2 nil after making use of his left foot to score an assist provided by Idrissa Gana Gueye.
The Toffees got the 3rd goal after Spurs player (Archie Gray), put the ball past his goalkeeper, resulting in an own goal, and giving Everton a solid advantage into the game at halftime.
Despite two reply goals from Spurs in the 77th minute and in the injury time (90+2minute) by Dejan Kulusevski and Brazillian Richarlison de Andrade, Tottenham couldn’t get any points away from home.
